Bio
Amanda K. Chen is a specialist in the art and archaeology of the ancient Roman world. Her research interests include representations of transition and ambiguity in ancient Rome and Pompeii, as well as displays of identity (social, economic, gender) in the visual record. She has presented her research at numerous national and international conferences, such as the Archaeological Institute of America and the College Art Association.
Amanda is also an archaeologist and has worked at archaeological sites in central and south Italy, including the Coriglia Excavation Project, for which she is a staff member and area supervisor. She received her Ph.D. and M.A. in Art History and Archaeology from the University of Maryland, College Park, and her B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in Art History.
